The Pakistani city of Karachi is one of the world’s most violent, which is why the country’s Fashion Week — which started yesterday — was somewhat delayed. A spate of October and November attacks, which caused the deaths of 340 civilians, deterred the foreign designers that organizers had invited. And the decision was made to instead spotlight solely local talent — 32 designers from across the country, whose work premiered yesterday at the city’s luxurious Marriott Hotel.
